The King is Dead, Long Live the King

Glowing Windows 7 logo above the words, Starting Windows

On January 14, 2020, Microsoft will end its free extended support covering Windows 7, effectively exposing millions of home and enterprise users to potential unprotected malware attacks. Businesses who fail to upgrade to Windows 10 will be saddled with Microsoft’s high maintenance costs for the privilege of holding on to a secure version the now ten-year-old OS.

A high price to pay in order to avoid paying the high price of an external cyber attack on your business.

Perhaps it was the ill-fated Windows 8 that’s truly to blame for the holdover. The hangover caused by an OS built for use on a tablet, not a desktop. Every I.T. department on the planet was just imagining the inundation of user confusion. Tens-of-thousands of freaked-out executives, accountants, coordinators, and managers – all wondering what happened to the 54 icons that lived on their desktop monitor. 54 projects lost to the ether. Nary a start menu to seen.

Reluctance to adopt Windows 10, however, is unwarranted to say the least.

That’s because Windows 10 is simply a superior OS, a huge win for Microsoft. It’s design is cleaner, it’s built to run on minimum specs making it faster, it’s smarter, it’s intuitive to use, and most importantly, it’s more secure.  Migrating to 10 from a user’s point of view is easy – everything feels it is where it’s supposed to be, only better looking.

“That’s all great”, you might say, “but I don’t have the first clue as to how I’m going to get my business up to speed.”

Well, as you can imagine, there’s a reason we here at Keystone are talking about upgrading to Windows 10.  Which is, of course, that we can help you do that.  Time is not on your side, however, so it’s important you contact us as soon as you can to let us know your needs.
